Our Story
How GATHA
Came to BeThe Founding Moment
"When our last Bone-Setting Vaidya of a 400-year lineage passed away, we realised there is no backup."
GATHA was born from grief
and transformed into purpose
GATHA was established with a vision to bridge traditional knowledge with modern scientific inquiry through ethical, evidence-based, and community-centered research.
“Paramparagat Vaidyas are not just healers. They are living encyclopedias of biodiversity, ecology, nutrition, psychology, and spirituality all woven together.”
Through interdisciplinary collaboration involving ethnopharmacology, pharmacognosy, artificial intelligence, biodiversity research, and public health, we aim to:
- Preserve India's rich Lokswasthya Parampara for future generations
- Scientifically validate traditional healthcare practices
- Promote ethical knowledge-sharing and benefit-sharing frameworks
- Empower grassroots healer communities
- Build accessible digital knowledge systems in Indian languages
- Support sustainable and inclusive healthcare innovation
GATHA (Global Alliance for Traditional Healer's Advancement) stands for a research ecosystem rooted in compassion, scientific integrity, cultural respect, and social responsibility.
Our mission is not only to preserve knowledge, but to ensure that traditional wisdom continues to serve humanity in a scientifically responsible, ethically governed, and socially impactful manner.
